Accademia Amsterdam invites amateurs, (music) students and teachers to an exciting summer course dedicated to baroque chamber music.

On the day of arrival, the musicians of Accademia Amsterdam will treat participants to an inspiring concert. Students present themselves in the beautiful Auditorium Marianum of the Istituto Musicale “G. Frescobaldi”, located in the historical centre of Perugia and where the courses are mainly held.

The historical and artistic beauty of Perugia and the gentle landscape of the Umbrian hills serve as source of inspiration. Particular attention is paid to the overall interpretation of the early baroque period up to classicism.

Courses are accessible to all instrumentalists and singers and are open to all ages, from moderately advanced amateurs to college of music students. Music teachers (who bring in their students) can follow advanced interpretation workshops at a very attractive rate. The experienced musicians of Accademia Amsterdam will coach singers, wind-, string- and keyboard players of both modern and historic instruments. Individuals as well as ensembles are welcome.

The splendid medieval city of Perugia and its surroundings serve as source of inspiration to people who like to paint or draw. Antique architecture and gentle landscape can be subject for the artistic works, which are exhibited in the “Locanda degli Artisti” during the final party-dinner.

The course participants will get professional guidance from an Italian and Dutch teacher. Whether you are experienced or you want to give it a try; you are welcome to subscribe to one or more courses.

The drawing and painting course will be held in an annex to the Istituto Musicale “G. Frescobaldi”, located in the historical centre of Perugia, in the Porta Romana. Subjects can be the architectural elements of antique buildings, still lives and so called “vedute”. Also, we will visit the town, to paint and draw in the open air. The course participants can try several drawing or painting techniques at wish: charcoal, ink, pencil, wax pastels or (oil/acrylic) paint.

Duration of the course: 1 to 4 days (as desired).

2. Ceramics decoration

If you want to try your skills in a typical Perugian way, you can follow a course of decoration of ceramics, called “ceramica artigianale”.

During the ceramics course you are invited to discover the distinguished world of artistic ceramic painting. The teacher has a passion for her craft based on ancient knowledge, deeply rooted in the artistic tradition of the Renaissance of Deruta, inspired by the colors, landscapes and architecture of her native region of Umbria.

Whether you are simply curious to try several ways of ornamentation or want to decorate a handcrafted item that combines creativity and tradition, you are invited to follow this course. This way, you can enrich your home with a unique artistic souvenir! The results of the course are baked in the oven in the teacher’s atelier, “La Bottega delle Ceramiche”, and they are exhibited in the “Locanda degli Artisti” during the final dinner.

3. Traditional Italian cooking

The hostess of the “Locanda degli Artisti”, situated close to the Istituto Musicale “G. Frescobaldi”, has her roots in the rich Umbrian cooking tradition. She looks forward to learn you some of the most precious pastas, “secondi” or “dolci” of the region. The course will be held in the specially equipped kitchen in her restaurant. During the course-week, participants can enjoy the results of the cooking course at lunch or dinner.

The cuisine proposed by the Chef of the "Locanda degli Artisti” cares for simple, genuine dishes, full of fantasy, coming mainly from the local Umbrian, but also from the Lucanian and national cuisine.
